Thought you might like to see a few photos of a house designed by my uncle (Winston’s brother) now reckoned to be the best example of post modern domestic architecture in the country. Its the one at Chilwell!

  1. Hi Eliot
Myself and my parter own the House in Chilwell and would love to find out more about Raymond and any other interesting facts or photos which would add to the legacy \ provenance of the property.
    Best regards
    James

  2. Hi Eliot

Found this page by accident whilst doing research into my family tree. Raymond, Winston and Norman were my Dads cousins. Might we be related?

    Pamela

  3. Hi Pamela
My son, Thomas (Iain Myerscough) Walker has shown me your email on his site
    regarding Raymond’s house in Chilwell.
Winston, Raymond’s younger brother but also an architect, was my father.
So, yes, I guess we must be related and it would be fascinating to know
more. But I have remarkably little information about Winston’s family
    history!
My step brother (David – Winston’s first wife died in childbirth) has rather
    more information.
Winston never allowed my sister or I to visit Raymond, on the basis that his
anarchic values and brilliant mind would corrupt our brains for ever!
But we knew his son, Robin, and I keep in touch with Simon Myerscough.
If you know how distant a cousin Raymond was to your father then I guess we
    can work out the connection.
I have done a potted history of the family on my mothers side (she was a
Lloyd, an old Quaker family)which you can see on my website if you are
    interested http://www.eliotwalker.net/
If you follow the personal link, you will find her history.
I have not updated the website for ages – it might be a nice project to try
and track down some of Winston’s history.
So it would be interesting to get some details from you.
Winston’s life was fairly astonishing as we discovered shortly before he
died when Tom recorded his life history. It turns out he was in MI6 which
may explain his odd secretiveness. As my mother said at the time ‘Oh yes
dear, we never talked about that sort of thing….’
By a strange coincidence, my sister and I are about to visit the new owners
of the house in Chilwell so that will be interesting too.
Look forward to hearing from you.
    Regards
    Eliot Walker

  5. Hi Eliot

I believe that I have an original pencil sketch/plan of the house at Chilwell signed by R Myerscough Walker ARIBA, let me know if you would like a picture of it.

    Best wishes,

    Ian

  7. Dear Eliot, would you have any idea about the copyright contact for Raymond Myerscough-Walker’s works of art? The Government Art Collection has an oil painting of Lichfield Cathedral and we would like to request permission to include an image of it on our website. Thanks.

  8. Dear Robert,
    My Dad is finding out.

    >Tom
    >Can you reply to Robert Jones and say I am trying to find out.
    >Love
    >Dad XXX

  9. Dear Eliot,
I am the grandaughter of Raymond. My dad is Robin M-W. It is so exiting to find that my grandad has a website! :) I have heard many stories about Raymond, but my dad knows the lot.

  10. Hi Lila,
My Dad, Eliot, has written a piece on his uncle Raymond:
    http://www.stevensheila.co.uk/myerscough/notablemyerscoughs/raymondmyerscoughwalker/.
We are also doing the Geni.com thing but I got so many emails from it I turned off the notifications. So there are loads of relations on there.
Raymond does have some good stories and his personality is always quoted when I do something in his Myerscough style.
    Glad you found this ;)
    Tom

  11. Whats the Myerscough style? (and how are we related?) :)
