Top ten favorite Nokia E71 apps

Screenshot0002I have had an E71 for a few weeks now which has been great. I did have an older S40 OS based phone to check and send Google Apps email, synchronize contacts and even do a reasonable job of calendar synchronization.
But part of the reason for going for an S60 based phone is that it really means that there is no need to reach for the laptop.

So, enough said. Here are the applications .

0. Install unsigned application.

  1. Skype Voip calls worldwide.
  2. Mail for Exchange Sync Google Apps calendar.
  3. Gmail Threaded email from your Google Apps Domain.
  4. Mobbler Last.fm client. Internet radio that ranks your audio tastes and shares them with friends.
  5. Powerboot Start your favorite applications, like Skype, when your phone starts.
  6. Nokia Image Exchange A nice quick image browser and which can share with Flickr.
  7. Opera mini Browser that sync bookmarks with your desktop opera.
  8. Chop sushi A fun little game.
  9. WordMobi/python Edit your WordPress site. Which I’m doing now.
  10. JoikuSpot Share your phones 3G internet over the phones WiFi connection with other devices, like your laptop.
  11. BBC iPlayer Better quality than YouTube and with BBC content. Only really works over WiFi.
  12. SymTorrent Bit torrent client.
  13. Putty for S60 SSH client for nokia phones. Great for *nix server admin from the command prompt.

Joke

spanish shipCaptain Diego Montoya Garcia, of the spanish Armada flagship “Quando” was on the deck one day when his first mate ran up to him and cried “Captain! There’s an enemy ship on the horizon!”
Captain Diego turned a calm eye to his mate and said “Bring me my red shirt.”
The first mate ran and got the captains red shirt, which he put on.
A fierce battle raged and the Quando was victorious. After the battle, the first mate asked the captain “Sir, why do you don a red shirt before battle?”
The captain yawned bravely and said “If I am wounded in battle, the men will not see me bleeding, and they will be inspired.”
The mate was in awe of his wise captain. Just then, another crewman ran up to the captain and cried “Captain! There are twenty enemy ships on the horizon!”
The captain turned to his first mate and ordered “Bring me my brown pants.”
