Hi, Welcome to the blog. I just thought that I would drop a line to mention Portable Apps.

This site features a whole bunch of free applications that can be especially useful if you have a usb key or just to run on from you hard drive.

I tend to use Filezilla and Firefox. The other thing that has been useful to me is Web Server On a Stick which lets you run Apache and Mysql in a similarly portable way.

The only thing that distresses me about writing about applications and servers while using them is the this interest is disappearing up its’ own arse. What that means is that if you are intersted in these things then one would need a higher purpose than simply the tools themselves to use them.

Why write about these applications if there is not porpose to which they are being put to?
